We’re hearing a lot about mental health and mental wellness in the new workplace environment – fair enough – and I think that many of the solutions we’re looking at could just as easily be described as providing coping strategies, helping people adapt to change, and finding ways to take control of challenges in troubled times.

Even though we are currently in the third wave of the Covid pandemic, with daily numbers of reported infections higher than at any time since the start of the crisis, we do have to start looking seriously at the post-pandemic world of employment law, best practices and how to handle all of the inevitable fall-out on our path back to “normal.”

Yes, I, along with my colleagues and most of the people who read this blog are in the benefits management business, and we deal with issues professionally every day. But it was two very different real-world situations within the orbit of my personal acquaintances – people who have touched my own life – that really made me think about one often–overlooked aspect of benefits.
